Funki Porcini, his mom calls him James Bradell, has been making music on Coldcut's Ninja Tune label for almost a decade now. In fact, Funki Porcini was one of the original artists on the label. Let's See What Carmen Can Do is a funky little EP that James released in 1997 between full-length albums and it was some of his best material. From the crazy samples in "Ritmo Di Jazz" to the twisted "Pete Pete Pete" which goes nuts on Beeswax and Nutmeg. There are some totally groovy tracks on here too like the title track and "Surge". While Funki Porcini will mostly be thought of as "armchair electronica" he will also be thought of as one of the best in the genre. If you want to discover this talented artist then this EP is a great introduction to what lies ahead. Then venture to Hed Phone Sex after your curiosity is piqued.
