The score does a great job of matching the imagery of the film. I'd give the score an 8/10 for just that reason alone. Ennio lost me on a lot of his scores, but this is one of his best. Also, for a great score that really made a good film better, see: http://www.musicemissions.com/artists/albums/index.php?album_id=8552

Ennio Morricone's theme music was as much a part of Zeferelli's spaghetti western as Clint Eastwood. The rich orchestral arrangements which often accompanied Hollywood films of this era was eschewed in favour of a sparse musical landscape which matched the largely unpopulated wilderness which provided the backdrop to the films. "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" was both the best film and the best film score of the genre. I am not a great fan of spaghetti westerns and generally even less of a fan of film scores and have never seen the film in its entirety. One day I will, if only so that I can enjoy the combination, visual and aural, which the musical imagery forms in my mind.
