The Vibrators were a punk band who above all wanted to be a pop band. The band was also comprised of far more competent musicians than many of their contemporaries. As a consequence, they were often shunned by real punks as bandwagon jumpers who were not really punks at all. Yet this was an unfair position to take, for the Vibrators were, above all, about fun. Any band which puts together a song called "We Vibrate" about nocturnal experiences on the dance floor has got to be given some credit. This may not have been up there with their classic "Baby Baby", but it still is well worth getting down from the shelf, dusting off and vibrating to.
