One of the few bands I don't particularly care for I really wouldn't mind seeing live.

And damn, they sure know how to put on a stadium show. Going to see them June 1!

This song really isn't that bad. I think it's somewhat exemplary of the road U2 went down that kinda alienated some of their fans, but I was never that big of a fan to begin with. To me, being catchy and melodramatic are U2 staples, so there's no reason to really hate them for it. Bono is an easy target, sure, but the band as a whole has produced more than their share of quality songs, so more power to the lot of 'em.

"Sweetest Thing" gets a real lambasting from almost everyone except the average punter. Bono's please-forgive-me song to his wife for some oversight or other has been panned for every reason imaginable from its melodramatic sentimentality, its melody, its lyrics and even the video which accompanied it (though I thought it was rather innovative). There are some people who just hate Bono, and by extension U2, and simply want to have a go at each and every available opportunity. Fair enough I suppose. If you don't like U2 and find Bono's self-satisfied preachiness more than you can handle, then that's how you feel. But, come on. Is this song really that bad?
