More misery and depression from Joy Division, " Atmosphere " is a long, brooding song which threatens to but never really does get going. I defy anyone to listen to the entire output of Joy Division without coming away with an overwhelming desire to throw themselves under a bus. " Atmosphere " is a beautiful song in its own right, with synthesisers providing much of the texture and ambience to the music. This 12 inch single would get a higher rating if were not for the truly awful "She's Lost Control" , which is one of my least favourite Joy Division songs, and which blights the B-Side.
