Oddibe - Oddibe
I was almost going to pass this oddly named band by but then I remembered that all bands must start out somewhere. That’s what Oddibe has done here; they have got a start on what could be a promising career for some of the members. KC and Travis went to High School together in a small town in Texas. They played in music in their spare time and hooked up with a couple other locals, Ryan and Forrest. Oddibe (there was no statement as to where the four-piece came up with this name) was born. Unfortunately they all went away to college so the band was put on hold. When they all returned they started playing together again and chose to record an album. This is the result of their labors. Oddibe plays a happy and easygoing brand of pop rock. It is not superbly polished but that’s to be expected on most indie projects. At times the vocals sound strained but this is something that comes with time (remember Bono on October?). The musicianship is quite good considering that none of the members took music in college. It will be interesting to see what will happen with this young band. They show signs of promise. Could be that they do their own promotions.
