Did George Clinton see Parliament becoming as big as it did and as influential as it was? Of course! Clinton was a visionary and he wasn't happy just putting out funk music. He wanted his fans to be 'experienced' and that's just what Pariament was, a wild ride of experience. The band was originally entitled the Parliaments but when their single "(I Wanna) Testify" went big they ran into label problems. Next faze was Funkadelic which recorded until 1974 and once all the legal trauma was finished with the Parliaments name, Clinton moved everyone back onto the mothership and took the 's' off of the Parliaments and started releasing albums under that name in 1974. After borrowing (stealing) James Brown's main men, Bootsy Collins and Maceo Parker he was set to rule the Funkdom. After tearing the roof off of every American city, Parliament folded (1980) and George Clinton started his solo career (1982). Parliament isn't about music, it's about experiencing the music. Clinton was a genius and should be credited for putting on some of the wildest shows ever. Parliament is the funkiest funk ever put to disc. Yes, they even surpass James Brown himself. The double disc is a must in any rock collection. Don't settle for the Best of Give Up the Funk collection as it doesn't cover nearly the depth of material this album. This even includes a couple of their 12" remixes. "Remember, you got to shake it when you 'P'!"
