As with John Lennon rabbitting on about how great the world would be if there was no private property, the concept of a bunch of wealthy stadium rockers spouting about the evils of money is beyond ironic. "Money" was just that. Easily the most recognisable song off Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" it has attracted the same degree of criticism and hagiography as the album itself.
Now I am not a fan of the album. I find it to be rather dull, irritating in places and generally a bandwagon people jumped on because everyone else seemed to be jumping on it. "Money" is the only track on the album I can listen to for any length of time, and yet even then I get irritated by the sound effects of the money dropping and till ringing. I suppose it is because I am familiar with this that has caused me to give it space in my collection. But to be honest, the occasions are rare when I would listen to it.
