Going into this self titled album I expected to change my opinion at least a few times. I listened to the tracks, some more than others, and I always came back to this one feeling. Clean. It just seemed clean. The cuts, sound, and overall feel was clutter free and refreshing. Don't get me wrong, there were points where I was surprised with the transitioning, but it blended. Without question.
Initially I listened and got this familiar feel with "Lady of Late". It has a cutesy vibe with complimenting keys. Very inviting. The album progresses with contradictory lifting beats with "Alone" and "Searching". The lyrics seemed to carry heavier meaning while the band conveys it in a much lighter resonance. Even in the somber "Cold Hands", the music tends to leave you feeling accepting of the words. I did like how the intros to some of the tracks had a way of laying the environment to the song. "Kings Of Troy" as well as "White Coats" show that using bells and acoustic guitar can play up the song in whimsical way.
The new video featuring "Lady of Late", to me, shows almost a calling card to Priory. The setting and sound support the taste of this whole album. Chasing and playful, with a familiar tone that's easy on the ear. An Indie-pop Champagne Supernova-esque blend that is suitable for 2011.
