The worlds finest clean cut hippies began to hit the trail of pop success with "You Didn't Have to Be so Nice" as their second single. I had become familiar with this over many years but it was one of those tracks that I had never managed to associate with any particular artist until recently. This is typical mid- to late- sixties pop psychedelia - close male harmonies, gentle melodies and a lot of acoustic guitar. Not exactly very taxing stuff but then some songs are just meant to be enjoyed in a mellow, unassuming sort of way. And that is just what this is.
