One listen through this album and it is very apparent the recording should be categorized under your “experimental” music. You know, those albums that you pick up because something calls to you. Whether it’s the band name, the album artwork or whatever the case may be, you were just destined to get the record. You throw it on, and realize that you’ll probably never listen to this again. Now that’s not to say that there aren’t moments of potential (like the instrumental “Hobbit Town Beats” that could almost be Sleigh Bells sans vocals) from Child Marsoupial.

There are hints at riffs and hooks on this album, but the ideas aren’t developed enough. Thanks God, and Thank You God! is 59 tracks long, with most clocking in at roughly one minute.  Perhaps this makes the album a pastiche of ideas, but it lacks any fully realized visions. There are times when it’s apparent that this duo just hit "record" and put to tape whatever came to mind. Seemingly, they recorded in their bedroom, basement, kitchen or wherever they were at the time (“All I Wanna Eat...”, “Rock-n-Roll Hot Dogs”). The ideas are there, but this group would benefit from a producer who could help them develop their sound, humor and ideas into something more complete.
