Men at Work found themselves in a right quandary after the success of "Down Under". The reason was simple they were expected by their record company to follow it up. In truth they really had no chance of following up an iconic number like "Down Under". That is probably why they are always regarded in the UK as one hit wonders.
"Overkill" was a reasonable enough pop song but it lacked everything which had made its predecessor so memorable, especially the persistent stick-in-the-mind of words which made "Down Under" such a success. As a result, Men at Work are usually viewed through the prism of their earlier single. "Overkill" was not successful and the band never approached the UK charts in any meaningful way again.
