Amy Ray - Stag
Indigo Girl, Amy Ray, breaks free from the band situation to strap on the solo artist tag finally. She seems to have left her folk roots behind as she joins up with the likes of queer punkers, The Butchies, and even includes a track "Hey Castrator" with legendary Joan Jett along with Luscious Jackson's Kate Schellenbach and the Breeders Josephine Wiggs (What a line up!). Another track ("Black Heart Today") features the talents of the Rock-A-Teens. As you can see Amy Ray has expanded a bit on her roots. And for all of you who enjoy her Indigo Girls stuff, you can take great joy in opening track "Johnny Rottentail" and "Lazyboy" which are very rootsy. In fact "Lazyboy" starts out as though it were an Elliot Smith track. Stag shows Amy has a load more inside her than what the Indigos allow.
