The most perfect blend of punk and reggae ever - bar none. The Clash were in the forefront of mixing these genres, even if most of the punks and reggae fans were not keen on the mix. This song about racism and popular youth culture encapsulates what the revolution, failed though it did, was about in its earliest, and best phase. The imagery and the way in which the feeling of isolation of the lone white guy in a predominantly black environment comes across marks this as one of the highlights of the year. Not surprisingly, it got almost no mainstream recognition at the time.
