I never really got into Cream in any major way. By the time I stumbled upon music as a pallid twelve year old, Cream were long gone and their mantle had been assumed by others. Yet this is one of their most laudable efforts. Always more of a random selection of great musicians rather than a band per se, "White Room" nonetheless shows the band at their best. Jack Bruce delivers one of his best vocal performances and a stunning bass line. Ginger Baker, whose contribution is so often overlooked, is masterful, while Clapton's meanderings never get to detract from the song as a whole.
