Among the many versions of "House of the Rising Sun" probably the heaviest available is this long deleted version by Detroit blues rockers Frijid Pink. Oddly, my copy of this single has a cover of Elvis's "Heartbreak Hotel" as the B-Side. The version of "House of the Rising Sun" here is a true blues rock variant is interesting if unspectacular and is saved, really, only because the song itself is impressive in its own right. As for the band, well no one rescued them from their deserved obscurity as a bog-standard blues cross over rock and roll band and this was probably the highlight of their entire career.
