Nobody can deny the impact that Paul Westerberg and company made on the music scene. No, he never sold a million albums either but thats where influences begin. My assumption was that Paul Westerberg never really wanted to. The collection of songs on Pleased is nicely diverse and yet held together with the clean crisp production. It could have been the separation from guitarist Bob Stinson that led the group to such a Big Starish pop sound leaving their garage roots in the dust. The acoustic track "Skyway" is still among the finest Westerberg tracks written. A lot of hard core fans may have cringed with the addition of horns and strings but in the end it was done very tastefully.

Still my all time favorite band...nothing can touch that "Bastards of Young" video either.

This was the first Replacements album I owned. I bought it on the new release rack because of the cover. Yup, I'm cool. Still my favorite Mats album.
