As the story goes three like-minded musicians came together in St. Louis to form a band and play covers on the local club scene. They knew they had something more original to say, but were reluctant to unleash it onto the World. After relocating to Texas with the promise of a label deal that never panned out a demo of original material leaked and Megaforce Records liked what they heard and signed them right away.
The label brought them to NYC to play at their anniversary show and the audience was unwittingly introduced to the next big thing in metal. Downtuned guitars, thundering bass and pocket drumming joined forces with Beatles harmonies and emotional songwriting to give us the King's X sound. Out Of The Silent Planet was immediately recognized by critics and musicians as something special, but was slow to warm up with fans. 'Goldilox' is considered by many to be the perfect ballad and 'King' spoke to the band's early career as part of the Christian rock scene. The King's X debut poised them to take the rock and metal World by storm.
