Amy Rigby - The Sugar Tree
Amy Rigby is every bit as important to today's pop music landscape as she was when her superb debut, Diary of a Mod Housewife, came out. She is sly and witty and cynical (as proven on her track "Cynically Yours" with lyrics like "At the end of the day / I've got nothing good to say / but you don't suck / so I'm cynically yours"). If you thought her talent may have been drained on Housewife think again. Amy has sharpened her pen and is ready to overcome the few critics that didn't embrace her previous efforts. She even makes a country song out of one of my favourite sayings; Rode hard and put away wet. She seems to have embraced a bit more of a country twang on tracks such as "Let me in a little bit". This could be due to her recent relocation to Nashville. Don't worry though because she still maintains her trademark pop sound. A fine addition to her catalog.
