Most would agree most popular artists out there have something truly special to give to their fans. This goes above the typical attributes like raw talent, amazing songs, nice voice, or even a very marketable look, sound & image. There's something truly infectious at the core of these artists that simply makes us feel good when we listen to them. Whatever "it" is - they all seem to have "it".
Today I listened to the latest CD from Hollywood musical 2-some singer/songwriter Lori Steele (vocals) and Alberto Beka (Sampling, Programming) (Music for the Modern Monkey) (2011). Venturing to their website it is a very professional presentation showing this band is clearly an up and coming band or sorts in Southern California. From start to finish this CD from Backnbloom delivers the goods and is very pleasurable. It has a very strong dance heavy, alternative rock quality to it and even dabbles in Rock and Modern Pop. Any fans of any of these musical styles will enjoy this latest release from Backnbloom. It's clearly marketed for those who like the mystique of a female fronted vocal delivery. I get the impression Steele and Beka are rolling with what they know as performers and songwriters. Favorite tracks include Track 1 (Heed the Flashes) and Track 2 (Start Again). The CD have an amazing feel. Within each one of these compositions Beka and Steele find their musical mojo. The programming and sampling from Beka is spot on he deserves a whol lot of credit for his role in this CD. The overall vibe is very upbeat, danceable and marketable.
I see Backnbloom as a diamond in the rough with an amazing amount of potential. As time goes by we will no doubt hear from these 2 again. I am eager to hear what his next release will sound like. I am also eager to see what the future holds for these 2 as well as they fit together like a hand in glove. In close most famous artists out there have "it". I'm not so sure what it but Backnbloom (Alberto and Lori) has whatever "it" is.
