RecommendThis is a strange one for Putumayo. Not quite what you would expect from one of the world's leading world music labels. Putumayo is calling this a venture into Italian Folk music. Some of the tracks are outstanding like "La Ciapa Rusa" by La Torinese but the thing with this is that it easily just fits into the world music category; never mind the folk. I guess it comes down to the broad definition of Folk Music. Any way, the music on here still shows that Italy is alive and well in the music department. Most of these artists are unknown to me and I'm willing to bet, unkown to the rest of the world too. It's really too bad because there are some very talented musicians on here. But if your into taking an Italian country journey and soak up some culture this will do the job.
