I am reviewing the B-side here, which in spite of its placement on this disk surely has to be one of Aretha Franklin's most well-known and best loved songs. It is far preferable to the faster version put out by Dionne Warwick some time before hand and is another one of those classic songs from the pen of Burt Bacarach. The song works because it is so simple and yet, at the same time, quite complex. Anyone can sing along to it, but you need a partner (or preferably a few backing singers) to carry off the call and response chorus. And Aretha's voice was never better than here. It was a big hit in the UK and is still a staple of oldies radio. Definitely one of her best songs.
