RecommendYet another very unique compilation from world music pioneers Putumayo. The label manages to expands it's Women of the World series with it's Women of Latin America volume and again have gathered a nice variety of contributing artists. Included on Latinas are Mercedes Sosa, the labels own Mariana Montalvo, Lhasa (now living in Montreal, Canada), and the always entertaining Susana Baca. The tracks that have been compiled have never been widely released and they are unique in their own way and are held together with their blend of European, African and Native American culture. For the most part you will have a hard time sitting still to the song's infectious rhythms. Even the slower tracks invoke a slight swaying even in your chair. Another winner from Putumayo.
