The Ramones were great, an inspiration to everyone who ever wanted to be in a rock band. The Ramones proved that you did not to possess a considerable degree of talent before you could get up and do it. In that sense they were the true embodiment of the punk philosophy.
It starts with a countdown - one-two-three-four - and then off they go. The song uses only three chords and has the simplest of progressions or key changes. It is blasted out at full volume and played as fast as the band can play and still stay together. Lyrics, who cares? But they must be simple and they must enable the listener to chant along with them. Got that? Good, you have now got the Ramones.
"Blitzkrieg Bop" was no different to this pattern. And yet the Ramones still managed to churn out scores of good catchy songs which are still regarded as classics today. And this one is no different.
