New York City, it’s on the mouths of everyone right now. One thing many people aren’t talking about is the Global culture that New York itself houses. Global Beats of the Boroughs does a great job a reaching into the many different cultures and pulling out quality samples of their music styles. I am not going to name all the different nationalities that are represented here but I will pull out a few so you can see how diverse it really is. You have artists with Puerto Rican, Dominican, Albanian, Cantonese, Korean, African, Irish, Greek, Colombian, and Middle Eastern backgrounds all present here, just to name a few. This double disc not only reaffirms New York’s cultural diversity but also documents it in musical form. All the recordings are of high quality and very insightful. Smithsonian has done a fine job with the presentation of the Global Culture that is present in the diverse New York City.
