With the breakthrough of Puerto Rican artists on the charts it was only a matter of time until someone revisited the roots of the fabulous island. This album completes Putumayo's trilogy of the music of Spanish Caribbean following Cuba and Republica Dominica. The musical styles prominent on this small island are bomba, plena, and musica jibara as well as salsa. Some of the outstanding tracks on this great compilation are Eddie Palmieri's "Cafe", Jimmy Bosch's "Pa' Mantener Tradicion" and Plena Libra's "Bembe De Plena". When you put this on you can't help yourself from doing a little salsa move yourself. A great end to a great trilogy.
