Tired of hearing "Silent Night" or "Deck The Halls" every Christmas? Putumayo ventures into the other world (the rest of the world that is) that also celebrates Christmas. Providing a global soundtrack for the holiday season it features interpretations of Christmas classics of other cultures. You can go to Brazil to hear Ivan Lins seasonal samba, Barbados to hear the Banks Soundtech Steel Orchestra, Puerto Rico where Pepe Castillo does a local standard "Aguinaldo Jibaro", and then relax by a Christmas fire in Hawaii with the Hawaiian guitar of George Kuo. The only tracks familiar to me are "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" (done on steel drum though) and "We Three Kings" (done with a Cajun flavour). So if you vision of Christmas includes a frosty Santa Claus and a snow sleigh you must remember that a majority of people celebrating Christmas may have never seen snow. A though to keep you warm over this years holiday season. A Merry Christmas from Putumayo and MusicEmissions.com.
