Nazareth emerged out of the Scottish pub scene in the late sixties. This was one of their first singles and even managed to get the band a place on Top of the Pops. Someone suggested I should check them out. I did. Somehow, to my mind, rock songs which try to be instantly catchy in a poppy sort of way ultimately fail. If rock music hasn't got the guts to be rock music and instead tries to pretend its really quite saccharine sweet stuff, then it has no right to any recognition. This failed to impress me. I never bothered with Nazareth again.
Nazareth went away to America to make their fortune. When they returned punk had swept them away in their homeland. No great loss.
