With all the attention on the Nordic area’s rock scene (Sweden in particular) it was only a matter of time before the other gender would get into it. Sahara Hotnights are just that, a female form of the rock and roll bands that have been coming out of Sweden. They are of a retro type sound that is remniscent of MC5 and the Stooges era, very similar to that of other Swede’s sounds like the Hellacopters. Jennie Bomb kicks in with “Alright Alright which is a powerhouse of a song that gives you a bit of a clue to what’s ahead. Think Elastica with more balls and you will be close to the sound that Sahara Hotnights possess. The girls are only 20 years old so the energy they have is outstanding. When the opening riff for “Keep Up The Speed hits you then you start to stand up and pay attention. Jennie Bomb is a damn infectious album that sticks in your head long after “Out of the System is over. Move aside boys, Sahara Hotnights is here to stay. While they are here they are going to rock you hard.

I think Sahara Hotnights are even better live than they are on record. They never give a bad show. The level of energy on stage never drops below incendiary. Seeing them is a reaffirmation of the true spirit of Rock 'n Roll.
A recent stint with a major label in the US did work out but being so young they should get another chance to try again to top this, Jennie Bomb, their second album and best work so far.
