On the heels of lead singer, Sarah Cracknell's, debut album comes Sound Of Water, the bands first album for Mantra Recordings. With their new album you can expect a electronic version of the swinging '60's. A big part of their new sound is thanks to a mutual admiration of electronic artist To Rococo Rot which helped out a bit in few places. You will also find the profound string arangements as orchestrated by none other than Stereolab and High Llamas member Sean O'Hagan. The sound that the band has come up with the soundscapes on this, their finest moment, is on a sweeping epic proportion and yet the band still manages to remain close and personal. It's sounds as though they have been focusing on individual songs as pieces of their own but somehow the tracks still fit together very nicely. Their cover fits perfectly too as this music would be great to watch clouds go by on a lazy afternoon.
