With "Backdoor Man ", Howlin' Wolf introduced to us all one of the greatest characters of the blues, the guy who is shagging your woman and who sneaks in and out of the back door of your house while you are away. The backdoor man was a character who figured in many a rockers own repertoire later, most notably in Led Zeppelin's " Since I've Been Loving You" . Howlin' Wolf tells the story from the interloper's side, rather than from that of the cuckold and provides us with another great track from one of the greatest of all electric blues artists, and one to which the rockers who came later owed a huge debt.
