Blind Willie McTell's country blues style was pretty much unique. For anyone who thinks there was no distinct blues style before Robert Johnson, you really ought to check out this. "Statesboro Blues" is Blind Willie's most famous song and one which has contributed to the elevation of the man to a near iconic status - Bob Dylan wrote a song about him claiming that there is no one who can play the blues quite like him. Whether you agree with that particular bit of hyperbole or not, there can be little doubt that "Statesboro Blues" is one of the finest twenties blues songs going. Enjoy the roots of modern popular music!
