Greg Brown almost seduces you into apreciating the deep dark baritone voice that he posesses. Covenant is no different. Another thing that is no different here is the relatively stark outlook on life that Greg has. He paints very clear pictures of both reality and sub-reality. His lyrics are stark and always though provoking and his guitar playing is stellar. He opens with the best track on the album "'cept for you & me babe" but don't let that worry you as this is one of Brown's best albums to date. With tracks like "Rexroth's Daughter", that kind of just chugs along like a locomotive, Greg proves his songwriting skills. Discover, or rediscover, one of America's finest singer / songwriters out there. Don't shut off your stereo yet, Greg also sneaks in a bonus track called " Married to you".
