RecommendRounder is doing a fine job documenting all sorts of fine music and now they have made the move to document Irish Music in America. The East Coast provides one very close glimpse at what sort of Irish music talent lives on the American East Coast and the skilled musicians that keep their tradition alive. Some artists that you may recognize on this compilation are Mick Maloney, Brian Conway, Mike Flynn, and James Kean but in no way does the roster end here. These musicians have Irish in their blood and they are damn proud of it. The 21 tracks here are all instrumental jigs and reels played with all the heart and soul that you would expect. This marks the first commercially issued field recordings of Irish traditional music in America and most of the recordings are circa 1970s. Rounder has done a fine job once again.
