Traveller ’02 documents where Six Degrees has been (and is heading) in the past couple of months. If you haven’t heard of Six Degrees then you really haven’t been paying much attention in the world music arena as of late. They have been on the scene now for about 4 years and have been putting out some cutting edge world music as well as borderline electronica. When you get artists as diverse as Spearhead and dj Cheb I Sabbah on the same label you know you have something very creative. Lately we have seen the likes of Issa Bagayogo and the DJ styles of Hawke appear on the label. This shows that Six Degrees really isn’t losing any steam when one might think it should. The Traveller series is a great document on the very influential and important label. I know these Six Degrees samplers go for about $10-15 so if for no other reason you pick this sampler up than it being affordable then do it.
