Although I always thought the Moody Blues a bit too wet to be taken seriously, this song is one of those timeless classics that everyone knows. And with good reason for it is an outstanding song. The over reliance on the dreamy and ethereal side of psychedelia was as close as it came to bringing that music into the mainstream. "Nights in White Satin" was and remains their biggest hit and, in my opinion, was the one good song they did. Romantic in an almost medieval sort of way (Knights in White Satin perhaps), it remains a wonderfully romantic and atmospheric song which harks back to an earlier time. However, the single is spoilt by a crappy B-Side.
