If there has to be one song which I would single out as being the signature tune of punk rock than any other, it would have to be "Complete Control". This song is full of the anger and vitriol and contempt for society and particularly the music business which the punks stood for. And it is such a memorable track as well, musically, with a catchy hook line, screaming vocals and some excellent guitar work which gave the lie to the idea that all punks were musically incompetent. However, it is particularly sad that, in my view, the Clash in the end sold out to the very things which on this track they decried.
