One thing’s for sure, Ryan Adams has won the hearts of may with his beautiful songwriting. First in Whiskeytown and now on his own, Ryan is making all cameras turn his way. In the way someone like Bob Dylan writes music, Ryan is also doing the same. Even before Gold hit the shelves, he was back writing music from morning to night. If you know what you like doing, you may as well do it. Anyway, Demolition is a handpicked assortment of these songs and while they don’t have as much instant appeal as tracks from Gold or Heartbreaker, they do pack a punch. Demolition consists mostly of ballads but when Adams wants to rock, he sure doesn’t hold back. Have a listen to one of the album’s rowdiest tracks, “Gimme A Sign, which is a nice example of Ryan’s Replacement’s Rock. He is at his best when he is singing about what his heart is feeling like “You Will Always Be The Same. Demolition is a fine addition to any No Depression collection and Ryan Adams fans will be appeased until the next proper album.
