The story behind Scene Killer is bit more than they provided in the tear sheet that came with the disc. They said that there were members of Monster Magnet, Atomic Bitchwax, Solarized and a few other bands worth naming but when you open up the case you discover that that’s what Scene Killer was all about, collaborating on heavy rock music. There are a few consistent players throughout but for the most part each track is a new set of musicians. You would think that this might lend to a chaotic set but the one consistency throughout is that superb producer Jack Endino mixed the entire bag. A quote from Endino: “That was a somewhat motley batch of stuff but I think there is an album there. There is most certainly an album and it’s heavy as hell and thick with the trademark stoner rock sound that these bands know so well. Executive producer Jim Hogan was behind the project and should be proud of what he has accomplished. People need to branch out like this more often because in the end they better themselves and open themselves up to a whole new batch of influences.
