In spite of the accolades this receives, in my view this is truly, truly awful. It was pretentious beyond belief, and the discordant, atonal, screeching and wailing vocals, the jarring unmelodic guitars and the syncopated drums seemed to be an exercise in anti-music. This was Bristol's finest telling the world that they'd outgrown punk and were going to set a new musical standard for the avant garde. The result is discordant noise and thoroughly disagreeable for it. Thankfully, this never caught on, though the album from which this came is often laughably cited as a modern classic.
It is nothing more than prog rock for punk rockers! Pretentious and best avoided.
