Any song which opens with the line
"Pretty girls out walking with gorillas down my street"
has got to be worth a listen.
This single is an excellent example of Jackson's early work, reggae influenced, sparse, sharp guitars and a tempo which rises at each refrain. The B-Side is also, unlike so many others, a good piece of music in its own right and not just some cast off which never made the album. Contemporaneous with the Police, with whom there is a distinct affinity in terms of his influences and his musical style, Jackson never really got the fame he deserved, neither did he achieve as much commercial success as, say, the Police. He sang songs about relationships, often with a curious or bitter twist to them. But his songs really could touch a nerve amongst those who heard them. His were songs which everyone recognised as having more than a grain of truth to them. A must-have purchase for any guy who has ever wondered what that gorgeous woman sees in HIM. And the B-Side, "You Got the Fever" is a great track as well, a song of desperation in love/lust.
