The Police's second album was eagerly awaited after the huge, though somewhat belated success of the first. This track, "Message in a Bottle", was the first single off it. The single and album cemented the bands place as superstars. Though the tune is catchy and the melody is tight, I somehow feel that they had lost the edge somewhat in terms of pertinent vocals - this is a rather silly song when you think about it, despite the attempt at a social commentary on loneliness. In addition, the fact that this track was rather over produced did not help the overall sound. I much prefer the singles off their first album.
