Procol Harum were one of those bands who everyone knew, but most people only ever knew one thing they did - "A Whiter Shade of Pale" not surprisingly. I have to admit that, during the seventies, I pretty much fell into that category. When this single came out, and charted - perhaps the first time in a long time that Procol Harum had charted in the UK - I went out and bought it. Once upon a time, I thought this was very catchy indeed. Now I am not so sure. It seems to be very much a product of its time by a band who were struggling to regain some sort of identity. One thing - it hasn't aged very well.
