Anthony Keidis of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers states that the only way to find out how cohesive a band is, one has to listen to a live album. Ive never heard of the pink dots. I take that back, I've heard of them, I haven't listened to them. After listening to this live album, I will be listening a whole lot more.
There's a lot of psychadelic aspects to this album. I think the premise of the show is that the lead singer is going crazy. I work in a dementia ward at a hospital and if you could put the day to day happenings of this type of life, all you'd need to do is go to a pink dots show and watch it.
I like the how the musical talent, keyboards, guitar melodies, wind intruments lead you up to a certain point, and then just let you go. They fade into the background, and when they do you have no idea what the lead singer is talking about.
The album is very ambient. I wouldn't classify this album as rock. Its put me to sleep several times,so many times that I may download it and put it on my ipod and itunes. It's like Pink Floyds' the final cut but set to great music.
I love the fact that a show this intense is set in such a small arena, there's like 12 people responding very positively. The band keeps moving, which is what they need to do. I honestly think that bands who take that type of break in their set lists have some sort of regrouping to do. I don't care if bands use drugs to enhance their performances or not, infact, I think drugs have contributed to a lot to it. There's just a constant background buzzing going on from ear, followed by a beautiful saxophone solo.
We will see you tomorrow my friend
