This is the real heartbreaking deal. Kasey Chambers has come out of nowhere to take on the hearts of alt-country fans all over the world. Well, actually from Australia but after Barricades & Brickwalls gets some exposure Kasey will be a sensation worldwide. After some success with her debut, The Captain, Kasey makes a label switch but keeps both feet firmly planted in country music. What do her peers think of Kasey? Look at just whom she’s got on Barricades and tell me that she isn’t respected. Lucinda Williams lends her voice to “On a bad day. Buddy Miller helps out on “Runaway Train and Gram Parsons’ “Still Feeling Blue. Paul Kelly from Living End sings on “I still pray. To top it off, her talented brother Nash Chambers produces the entire effort. Kasey doesn’t only break hearts like on “Falling Into You but she rocks you too like on “Crossfire. This is one of the best country albums to hit shelves so far this year. Alt-country hipsters will find charm in Kasey’s amazing songwriting and playing.
