Clem Snide makes the jump to the majors with Your Favorite Music. A bit suprising with their laid back pop twang. I would have thought they would have been more comfortable on an indie label but we'll see where Sire takes them. Named after a character from a William S. Burroughs book they have taken the Snide to mean their style of sweeping cello and stand up bass. Although a bit mellow the band is suited for the late night porch party that is just about all finished. Sometimes you get caught up in the gentle beauty of this record and you dismiss the brilliant lyrics provided by Eef Barzelay. The only actual rocker on here is "I love the unkown" and it is superb. Although quite often during a listen you may think you recognize something but be assured that Clem Snide provide some of the most refreshing Americana music.
