By far, the BEST live album I've heard since "Priest Live". I've seen these guys open up for Metallica on their box set tour in 95 with Suicidal tendencies and Candlebox. My drunken memories don't recall any songs but "Arrow" from that tour.
I got the chance to see them sober in 2009 in Tucson. Their lead singer was sick and puking, and feverishly ripping through these songs. He apologized repeatedly, but I stood there frozen, as he asked "did you miss us?" and greeted us "it's nice to see you, are you ready to have a good time this evening."
I listened this to album and realized that the guys in Candlebox just truely care about their live performances. I stood there in Tucson mesmirized, and I sit here in Yuma, mesmirized, listening to "Simple Lessons".
The live show was the best 15 dollars I ever spent on an album. I love the bands live presence. They relate to the crowd, and it comes through in this album. Check out "10000 horses'....where the lead singer just starts singing acapella about a drunk asshole in the crowd. That drunk dude was probably me in 95, but it certainly wasn't me in 09. I paid the full 20 bucks for this album in the store, and I listen to it repeatedly on spotify.com, because they get paid everytime a premium listener plays the album. The only thing bad about the spotify album is there are gaps, and if you buy the album, there are no gaps.
Lastly, this album has the absolute BEST version of the song "cover me" with the best solo, the best live vocals, and the entire album captures the essense of a live candlebox show. Intense, off the cuff and insane.
