This is your chance to get in on a band before they break. The Damnwells are a New York based quartet fronted by Alex Dezen (guitars, vocals) and rounded out by Steven Terry (drums) who was a member of the now defunct Whiskeytown, Ted Hudson (bass), and Dave Chernis (guitars). Together they make some of the finest roots rock to ever hit my stereo. Alex voice is soft and gentle in the way that Josh Rouse brings you in with his charm. The band is tight and you can tell that they are all seasoned musicians and that they have come together with music as their focal point. Back to where I started with this review, they have just been signed to major roots label Lost Highway and are expected to have an album out late 2003, early 2004. This is when this amazing group will gain recognition. Jump on before everyone else does. The Damnwells don't give a damn but you will undoubtedly enjoy Pmr +1 (poor man's record plus a bonus song). An amazing band.
