Most would agree most popular artists out there have something truly special to give to their fans. This goes above the typical attributes like raw talent, amazing songs, nice voice, or even a very marketable look, sound and image. There's something truly infectious at the core of these artists that simply makes us feel good when we listen to them. Whatever "it" is - they all seem to have "it".

Today I spun the latest CD from France's own Drunk Souls (Revoultion- 2011). Venturing to their FACEBOOK/REVERBNATION pages and reading their bio I get the impression these guys are having fun with what they do. One expert reads - "We used to get really drunk before writing music" well that's the key to capturing lightning in a bottle and if you do this right your fans will love you for it. From start to finish this CD from Drunk Souls is very uplifting, pleasurable and entertaining. It has a very soothing Classic Rock, R&B quality to it and even dabbles in hooky Beach Pop and even Reggae-Rock. Any fans of any of these musical styles will enjoy this latest release from Drunk Souls. It's clearly marketed for those who like a male singer with a mystique of say a Sublime, Fishbone, and Less Than Jake. I get the impression singer DJaM is rolling with what he knows as a performer within each one of these songs. In other words he hits the mark remarkably well by just being who he is. Favorite tracks include (Revolution) and (Supermarket). All songs possess amazing feel. The songwriting digs a bit deeper than the typical Independent Artist. Within each one of these songs Drunk Souls bare their soul and delivers his best musical mojo. His band is spot on and backs him up very well. The overall vibe of the production is very upbeat and positive, zany, witty in nature.

My only criticism - I would recommend DJaM learn how to take the edge off his thick French Accent. Although I give him high marks for letting his personality shine though his vocal expression - most American or UK listeners don't care for music sung in anything but - well English.

I see Drunk Souls as a real diamond in the rough, or undiscovered gem of a band. As time goes by they will no doubt refine and fine-tune his overall sound and overall musical personality with music that is maybe more westernized. I am eager to hear what his next release will sound like - because if they can do this - I have no doubt millions of people in the US or here is the UK will tumble for them. In close most famous artists out there have "it" I'm not so sure what it but Drunk Souls definitely have whatever "it" may be.
