Most would agree most popular artists out there have something truly special to give to their fans. This goes above the typical attributes like raw talent, amazing songs, nice voice, or even a very marketable look, sound and image. There's something truly infectious at the core of these artists that simply makes us feel good when we listen to them. Whatever "it" is - they all seem to have "it".

Today I listened to the latest CD from Virginia singer/songwriter Justin Young (Clean Slate). Venturing to the world wide web I see this is his debut release, but you wouldn't know that listening to this amazing collection of music. From start to finish this CD from Young is very pleasurable. It has a very soothing Piano Pop flair to it and even dabbles in Jazzy Folk Rock. Any fans of any of these musical styles will enjoy this latest release from Young. It's clearly marketed for those who like a dare I say a sexy male singer with a mystique of say a Leonard Cohen, Billy Joel or even a hint of Harry Connick Jr. I get the impression Young is rolling with what he knows as a performer. In other words he hits the mark remarkably well just being who he is. Favorite tracks include (Photographs), (Flowers Never Die), and (I will Always be Your Hero). Let me go on record and say (Photographs) is one of the hottest singles I've heard this year. All tracks have an amazing feel. Within each one of these compositions Young finds his soul and delivers musical mojo. His band is spot on and just makes the whole CD even more enjoyable. Some songs even have an orchestral-classical flavor to them. The overall vibe is upbeat and positive.

I see Young as a diamond in the rough. No doubt if he does the right thing he has enormous amount of potential to gravitate a fan base. As time goes by he will no doubt learn more about him, but for now this is an impressive snapshot of music showcasing who he is as an artist, singer and songwriter - and what he has made in the beloved memory of his wife who died in a tragic car crash. I am eager to hear what his next release will sound like. In close most famous artists out there have "it" I'm not so sure what it but Justin Young has whatever "it" may be.
